biography/

Albert Willem (b. 1979) is a contemporary Belgian artist, born in a village near Brussels. He is known for his distinctive style and his ability to transform emotions into vibrant and expressive images. His passion for art began at an early age through regular museum visits with his mother, where he became fascinated by the playful and abstract forms of modern art, developing a particular interest in both painting and sculpture.

As a child, Albert Willem spent countless hours drawing, inspired by his two main passions: art and football. During his teenage years, he focused on illustrating football scenes and creating original characters. He later studied Communication Sciences at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). Despite professional and family responsibilities, creativity always remained an essential part of his life, including the publication of a children’s book.

At the age of 35, he fully rediscovered his passion for drawing and painting. By experimenting with different media and styles, he gradually developed a recognizable artistic signature defined by expressive figures, bright colors, and a subtle sense of humor.

Albert Willem’s work stands out for its visual and conceptual richness. His paintings, often created in a “naïve” style, invite viewers into a universe where anything is possible. Filled with irony and absurdity, his scenes depict everyday life or surreal situations, always with a humorous twist.

His aim is to connect with people through his art and to offer them a moment of lightness and joy.
