October 2022
The hospitality industry has faced significant headwinds in recent years, with new ventures struggling to find skilled staff and contending with supply chain delays. Yet the leadership behind the O11 hotel on Vienna's prestigious Ringstrasse has managed to defy the odds by building a truly exceptional team.
The lineup was unveiled at a press event in October 2022. At the helm of the kitchen stands Kevin Micheli, whose CV includes some of the most celebrated addresses in Austrian and Swiss gastronomy — from the legendary Landhaus Bacher to the avant-garde Hangar-7 in Salzburg and the Michelin-starred Einstein in St. Gallen.
Working alongside Micheli is Mathias Schranz, who brings experience from a string of high-profile kitchens, most recently under the direction of Juan Amador. The wine programme is overseen by sommelier Klaus Lechner, who also refined his palate at Amador's establishment. Lechner has partnered with the specialists at trinkreif to curate a cellar of genuine depth — early highlights included a Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1er Cru 2010 from Domaine Marc Morey and a Latour 2002.
Rounding out the front-of-house leadership is the seasoned restaurant director Matthias Steiner, whose previous posts include Konstantin Filippou and Neni. Completing the kitchen brigade is the internationally experienced sushi master Mario Zacares, renowned for his skill in preparing fish and Wagyu at the highest level.
Hotel director Sina Nikolussi and managing director Rosa da Silva are credited with orchestrating this remarkable assembly of talent — a promising sign for what lies ahead at the O11.
